1. Can I do this course more than once?
Citizenship is the entry level for our Blue Star program. This level must be completed before applying for the Leadership level.
2. How much do Blue Star programs cost?
If a young person is not able to afford this cost, they are able to discuss options with their local PCYC Club Manager regarding assistance with this fee.
3. What are the minimum requirements for me to attend?
Citizenship – None although participants must be committed to completing two camps and volunteering a minimum of 20hrs at their local PCYC in between.
Leadership – Our Citizenship level must be completed first before an application can be made to Leadership – again, when applying for leadership the participant must make a commitment to attend 3 camps and complete a minimum of 40hrs of volunteering at their local PCYC throughout the program.
4. Is there an age limit?
Yes – you must be between the ages of 16 & 18. If you are 18 years old you must have a current NSW Working With Children Check number that can be verified.
5. What will I get out of this course?
Citizenship – First Aid Certificate, 2 Statement of Attainments from the Certificate 1 in Active Volunteering, lots of fun and new friendships from all around NSW!
Leadership – Certificate 1 in Active Volunteering, Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Level Award, experience in delivering a project at a local level
6. How do I make an application?
Applications packs can be emailed to you or picked up from your local PCYC. Once filled out, your application must be returned to your local PCYC Club Manager so that your Police Check can be completed before being sent through to the Blue Star Co-ordinator.
7. Do I need to be Police checked?
Yes – as a Blue Star participant you will be completing your volunteering within a PCYC, to volunteer at PCYC it is a requirement that each volunteer be Police Checked – if you are 18years old you must also supply your NSW Working With Children Check number.
8. What if I can't come to one of the camps?
You must speak with the Blue Star Co-ordinator beforehand so that alternate arrangements can be made (if possible)
